Getting Started

What is Ledger Tome?

Ledger Tome is an AI-powered tool that converts bank and credit card statement PDFs into clean, structured data. Simply upload your PDF, and our AI extracts all transactions into a format ready for import into accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or Wave. Export as CSV, Excel, QIF, QBO, or JSON.

How do I start converting bank or credit card statements?

Sign up for a free account to get 3 free pages per week plus 10 bonus tokens. Once logged in, go to the Convert page, upload your PDF bank or credit card statement, review the extracted data in our interactive table, and export in your preferred format.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Ledger Tome is entirely web-based. You can access it from any modern browser on desktop or mobile. No downloads, plugins, or installations required.

What file formats do you accept?

We accept PDF files only. This includes both digitally-generated PDFs from online banking portals and scanned paper statements. For best results with scanned documents, ensure the scan is clear and legible with at least 300 DPI resolution.

Which banks do you support?

Ledger Tome works with bank and credit card statements from any financial institution worldwide. Unlike template-based solutions, our AI reads and understands document structure, so it adapts automatically to different layouts without requiring pre-configuration for specific banks or card issuers.

How accurate is the AI extraction?

Our AI achieves 99.9% accuracy on clean, digitally-generated PDFs. Scanned documents may have slightly lower accuracy depending on scan quality. Our built-in validator helps you catch and correct any errors before downloading, ensuring your final export is accurate.

What languages are supported?

Ledger Tome supports bank and credit card statements in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, and many other languages. The AI recognizes transaction patterns regardless of language.

Can it handle multi-page statements?

Yes. You can upload multi-page PDF statements, and the AI will extract transactions from all pages into a single file. Each page costs one token.

Output & Export Formats

What columns are included in the output?

Every export includes: Date (YYYY-MM-DD format), Description, Debit amount, Credit amount, Running Balance, Currency (ISO 4217 code), and Account ID. This standardized format works with all major accounting software.

Which accounting software can I import the data into?

We support CSV, Excel, QIF, QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect), and JSON exports, compatible with QuickBooks, Xero, Wave, FreshBooks, Sage, MYOB, Zoho Books, and any other major accounting system.

Can I edit the extracted data before downloading?

Yes. After extraction, you'll see all transactions in an interactive table. Click any cell to edit values. Our smart validator highlights balance discrepancies so you can fix errors before downloading.

What is the Auto-fix feature?

When the validator detects that extracted balances don't match calculated balances (based on debits and credits), you can click Auto-fix to automatically recalculate and correct the balances.

Pricing & Tokens

How does token pricing work?

Each page of a PDF costs one token to process. Free users get 3 tokens per week that refresh automatically. Paid plans include monthly token allowances, and you can purchase additional token packs anytime.

What do I get with a free account?

Free accounts receive 3 tokens per week (refreshed every 7 days) plus a one-time bonus of 10 tokens on signup. This lets you convert up to 3 pages per week indefinitely, or more pages initially with your bonus tokens.

Do unused tokens roll over?

Weekly recurring tokens do not roll over. They refresh each week. However, purchased token packs and bonus tokens never expire and remain in your account until used.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes. You can change your plan anytime from your Billing page. When upgrading, you'll receive the difference in tokens immediately. When downgrading, the change takes effect at your next billing cycle.

Security & Privacy

Is my financial data secure?

Yes. All files are encrypted during upload and processing using TLS 1.3 encryption. Files are processed in isolated, secure environments, and no human ever accesses your documents; only AI processes them.

How long do you store my files?

Uploaded PDFs and generated files are retained for 7 days, then automatically and permanently deleted from our servers. During this period, you can re-download your exports or resume editing sessions.

Do you share my data with third parties?

No. We never sell, share, or provide your financial data to third parties. Your documents are used solely for the purpose of extraction and are deleted after the retention period.

Can I delete my files immediately?

Yes. You can manually delete any uploaded file or conversion from your History page at any time, and it will be removed from our servers immediately.

Account & Technical

How do I reset my password?

Click "Forgot password" on the login page and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Why is my PDF not processing correctly?

Common issues include: scanned PDFs with low resolution (use 300+ DPI), password-protected PDFs (remove protection first), or image-only PDFs without text layers. For best results, use the original digital PDF from your bank's or card issuer's online portal.

Can I process multiple files at once?

Pro and Enterprise users can upload multiple files in batch. Each file is processed separately, and you can download individual exports or a combined file.
